Women and Addiction

Recovery from addiction is a process that evolves uniquely for each individual.

Acupuncture plays a multi-faceted role in this unfolding. On a physical level, auricular (ear) acupuncture is used to calm the nerves and the mind while detoxifying the organs of elimination (kidney, liver, and lungs). On an emotional level, it causes a subtle shift to take place as treatment progresses. Often people will state “you know I just feel different” or “I am able to contemplate returning to work or going to school,” or “how I behave in relationships seems to be changing for the better.” As the physical body detoxifies and the emotional self begins to heal, cravings also begin to subside. Many share that they just lose their desire for alcohol, coffee, cigarettes, food, etc.

Annie is a certified addiction detoxification specialist (ADS) by the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA). NADA teaches specific protocals for the treatment of addiction that have been carefully developed and extensively tested.

For Annie, as an acupuncturist and herbalist, this is a beautiful process to observe – a genuine unfolding. At the first session, she advises patients to trust the process, and soon enough, they begin to see changes.

Along with auricular acupuncture, Annie will assess your general health situation and place needles in other parts of the body along with the possibility of herbal medicine. Smoking cessation especially responds well to the combination of acupuncture and herbal tinctures.
